The Best Night Ever! [Romano X Reader]

You and (friend's name) pulled up to your high school. Tonight was the prom. The two of you stepped out of the car, the wind blew through your (h/c) locks. You were wearing a (f/c) dress that flowed down to you knees, with plain black flats and a gold anklet on you left ankle. You thought to yourself, 'tonight is going to be the best night ever!' Your friend then turned to you and smiled, "You ready?" You laugh, "Of course I am!"

You both walk into the school and go to the cafeteria, "Die Young" by Ke$ha was blasting through the speakers as you walked in. The lights were off and he only source of light were colorful spotlights that lit up the floor. The walls were decorated with sparkly streamers and the floor was littered with poorly blown up balloons. You could see some people dancing but many where just standing talking and drinking pop. A snack bar was set up in the corner

Then something dawned on you and you said, "I wonder if Lovino is here yet?" looking around through the crowd to see if you could catch a glimpse of the brunette. You had nearly forgotten about him! Lovino Vargas has been one of your best friends ever since you had transferred to this school freshmen year. He and (friend) were some of the first people to talk to you. It made you happy, and made you feel less lonely. You have all been rather close since, but lately you have become a bit jumpy around Lovino. Your stomach does flips whenever he talks to you, your heart skips a beat when you meet his gaze, and you face heats up at the mere sight of him! Especially when he smiles, he has the best smile and he rarely shows it. Awhile ago you realized that you have come to LOVE Lovino, and you wanted to tell him how you felt.

You were snapped out of your thoughts by your friend shaking you shoulder. "I think I see him" she said pointing. You looked where her finger was pointing and sure enough, there he was leaning up against the wall, tapping his foot to the beat of a new song that was blaring through the speakers. He was wearing a maroon dress shirt along with a black tie and black dress pants. A casual outfit for a dance. 'He IS here!' you thought happily to yourself. You could feel your face start to heat up but luckily the room was too dark for your friend to notice. "Lets go say hi!" She said as she turned to you with the hugest smile, it kind of freaked you out, she had been rather happy today. Unusually happy. You were trying to contemplate the idea as she tugged you through the crowd towards Lovino.

Lovino looked up as he heard (friend) calling out to him. He smiled slightly, "Hey, I was wondering when you two were going to show up." "Yeah we had some hair issues" you friend said pulling at you hair. You slapped her hand away, "Hey! It was YOUR hair that was having problems!" She laughed, "Yeah okay!" Lovino smiled at the two of you and your ridiculous fight, "Wow, it takes you guys that long to just do you hair?" "What do you expect, where ladies!" You say doing a curtsy. At this, Lovino began to laugh, and hearing him laugh, you started to laugh.

When the three of you had settled down a bit, you heard your favorite song come on through the speakers and you squealed with joy, "I love this song!" You turned to Lovino, "H-hey Lovi!" you held out your hand, "dance with me!" You couldn't see it, but Lovino was blushing at your offer and so were you. "S-sure" he stuttered as he took your hand. As you dragged him off to the dance floor, your friend smirked to herself and chuckled, "those two" she said as she walked off to get a drink.

After the song had ended you were a bit out of breathe from dancing a bit more crazier than you probably should have. AS if he could read your mind, Lovino asked if you wanted some water. You nod. Lovino then grabbed you wrist and started to drag you towards the exit that led to the hallway. He was blushing darkly. "A-ah Lovi... They have cups of water here you know" you say as he pulls you along with him. "I know... b-but that stuff taste like dish water" he said as he opened the door and pulled you into the hallway.

He dragged you toward the nearest fountain. You looked at him oddly, raising an eyebrow at his actions, but he didn't seem to notice so you just leaned down and took a big gulp of cool water. Lovino shook your shoulder, "Hey I want some too bastardo." You straightened up and giggled, "Sorry Lovi~ I was thirsty~" "Obviously" he stated as he leaned down to get his fill. But it had looked like to you that he had barely had a drop before his head darted up and he looked both ways down the hall. "What's wrong Lovi?" You asked, a bit frightened by his actions.

"O-oh, n-nothing..."

"You sure?"

"S-si" he smiled.

"Alright then lets head back, (friend) is probably wondering where the hell we are." As you turned  =around to head back to the cafeteria, Lovino grabbed your wrist and stopped you. "Wait!" he yelled. You turned around, "Lovi, what is it?"

He licked his lips, "A-ah... I gotta... gotta tell you something _______."

You turned your body so you were facing him head on, "Of course! You can tell me anything! We're friends aren't we?" You could feel your face start to heat up. Lovino's face on the other hand was as red as one of his tomatoes that he always ranted about. You smile to yourself at the thought of him sharing one with you like he usually did when he began to speak again,

"_______, I... I..." his blush darkened as he stuttered.

"You what?" you asked obliviously.

But he gave up on words and gripped your shoulders firmly. He gazed into your eyes softly and you thought your heart would pound its way out of your chest. His beautiful hazel eyes... But you were forced out of his gaze as he pulled yo into a tight hug and buried his face into your neck. You blinked in surprise, Lovino had never hugged you like this, it seemed like he was desperately trying to keep you from leaving his side, but you liked it. It made you feel safe and secure, like nothing in the world could hurt you. You dug your fingers slightly into his shirt and breathed in his tomatoey scent. The two of you stayed like that for sometime, but you didn't care. Then Lovino started to mumble something into your hair. "What was that Lovino?" you opened your eyes but still held onto him, not wanted to let go. Lovino moved slightly and whispered into your ear...

"T-ti amo..."

You blinked rapidly. Even though Italian wasn't your native language, you still understood some words. You had picked up on some from Lovino and his family, but you also looked up words, and you knew EXACTLY what this word meant, I love you. You had looked it up last night because you had wanted to confess your feelings to him in his native language, you thought it be romantic. But he had beat you to it.

Tears of joy started to spring from you eyes as you sobbed in happiness. Lovino pulled away from you to look at your face. "_______...?" "Oh Lovino!" you cried. "Ti amo troppo, ti amo troppo!" you yelled as you wrapped your arms around his neck and hugged him back with all your might. Lovino buried his face into your neck again, all that was going through his mind was 'She loves me too! She loves me too!'

After standing like that for a few more minutes, Lovino pulled back to arms length and smiled at you, the sweetest smile you have ever seen cross his face. You giggle. Lovino then cupped your face and used his thumb to wipe away a few fresh tears of joy you had shed. Then, slowly, he pulled you in close to his face and gently placed his lips upon yours. Your heart fluttered and you kissed him back eagerly but just as gentle. The kiss was pure bliss, but the damn need to breathe had dragged you two apart. The two of you didn't say anything, you just looked into each others eyes, smiling until Lovino pulled you into another gently and sweet kiss.

When you two had finally finished you 'moment' in the hallway, you both walked back to the cafeteria hand in hand, smiling like idiotas. As you walked in you spotted (friend) leaning against a wall drinking a pop. You guys walked up to her still holding hands. "Hey" you say, "sorry for taking so long." she looked up and smirked, "Ah so hows the happy couple?" You blushed darkly and stared at her in confusion, "Wh-what? I didn't even tell you that we--" you were cut off by your friend's laugh. "You didn't need to! Lovi told me his plan for confessing to you earlier and asked me to play along and help get you two alone." Lovino blushed and looked away bashfully. "Oh really~" you said glancing at him, "no WONDER you were so fucking happy today!" She just grinned at you. Then suddenly, Lovino hugged you from behind and pulled you close to him. You rested your head on his chest.

"I love you" he said.

You laughed, "I love you too Lovino"

This has truly been the best night of your life!
